Learn With Animals

Weekly farm groups - Coming September 2026

This summer, families have been getting their first taste of Learning with Animals at Sweetlands Farm. From September, the programme continues with small weekly groups, giving children the chance to come back each week, get to know our animals properly, and grow in confidence along the way.

Rather than one-off visits, children join us for a whole half-term at a time. It's a small change that makes a big difference: real friendships form, skills build week on week, and the farm starts to feel like a second home.

Keep an eye on this page and our socials for when booking will open or drop us an email to let us know you are interested.

Our Weekly Groups

We've kept our groups small on purpose. Small numbers mean every child gets plenty of hands-on time, individual encouragement, and a real chance to build a relationship with the animals — not just watch from the sidelines.

Little Farmers - Ages 6-9

Tuesdays  |  9:30am – 10:45am

1 hour 15 minutes

£25 per session

A fun introduction to life on the farm for younger animal lovers. Children will meet our friendly animals, help with simple daily jobs and discover the wonderful world of farming through fun, hands-on activities.

Farm Rangers - Ages 10-15

Tuesdays  |  11am – 12:30pm

1 hour 30 minutes

£30 per session

Designed for older children who want to become more involved in caring for our animals. Farm Rangers learn practical countryside skills, animal welfare, feeding, handling and responsibility through hands-on experiences.

Farm Friends - Age 8+

Tuesdays  |  1.30pm – 2:45pm

1 hour 15 minutes

£35 per session

A calm, supportive small-group session for children who benefit from a quieter pace, additional encouragement and a little more individual attention. Children build confidence, develop practical skills and enjoy learning through meaningful interactions with our friendly farm animals.

Why Book by the Half-Term?

Learning with Animals works best as a regular thing, not a one-off. Coming back each week is how children really get to know an animal, remember a job from last time, and grow more sure of themselves session by session. Booking by the half-term means your child keeps the same spot, the same small group, and the same friendly faces every week.

  • Places are booked by the half-term and are limited to keep our groups small.

  • Full payment is required before the start of each half-term.

  • Half-term bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable (see full Terms & Conditions).

  • As places are limited, we're happy to add names to a waitlist — just get in touch.

  • Joining partway through a term? Get in touch — there may still be availability.

A Nice Bonus: AQA Unit Award

Children who attend regularly have the opportunity to work towards an AQA Unit Award, recognising the skills they've built over the term. It's a lovely extra for those who want it — not the reason to join, just a nice way to mark the progress your child makes with us.
