Do I need to book in advance?

Yes. Experiences should be booked in advance as places are limited. This helps us keep groups small and ensures we have the right staff and animals ready for your visit.

Can family members wait in The Farmer’s Rest while others take part in an experience?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Family members who are not taking part in an experience are welcome to wait in The Farmer’s Rest while the session is taking place.

Can I just visit the café without booking an experience?

Accepted Answer

Yes, when The Farmer’s Rest is open, visitors are welcome to pop in for coffee, cake and light refreshments without booking an experience.

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

No. Unfortunately dogs are not permitted at Sweetlands Farm. We have livestock, free-range animals and working yard dogs, so for the safety and welfare of all our animals we ask visitors to leave dogs at home. Assistance dogs may be discussed by prior arrangement.

What should we wear?

Please wear closed-toe footwear and comfortable outdoor clothing. Sweetlands is a real working farm, so visitors may come into contact with mud, straw, hay, dust and animal fur. Please dress for the weather.

What happens if it rains?

We will continue where possible, but sessions may be adapted depending on the weather. If the weather is extreme or unsafe, Sweetlands Farm may cancel and offer an alternative date or refund in line with the booking policy.

Are pushchairs suitable?

Pushchairs are suitable around the café and yard areas, but not inside animal enclosures or all farm areas. Please be aware that some ground may be uneven.

Is the farm wheelchair accessible?

Wheelchairs can access the café and yard areas, but not all animal enclosures or farm areas are fully accessible due to uneven ground and the nature of a working farm. Please contact us before booking if you would like to discuss accessibility.

Can I take photographs?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you are welcome to take photographs of your own family and the animals. Please be mindful of safeguarding and do not photograph other visitors, children or families without their permission.

Can we feed the animals?

Visitors may have the opportunity to feed selected animals during the experience using food provided by Sweetlands Farm. For the health and wellbeing of our animals, please do not bring your own animal feed.

Are your experiences suitable for toddlers?

Yes. Animal Experiences are suitable for all ages and little ones are very welcome. Children under 2 attend free. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult throughout the experience.

Yes. Grandparents are very welcome to bring children, as long as children under 12 are accompanied by a paying adult throughout the experience.

Yes. Adults without children are very welcome. Animal Experiences are suitable for families, couples, friends, grandparents and animal lovers of all ages.

We aim to make our experiences as welcoming and inclusive as possible. If you or your child has additional needs, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the best option. Private visits may also be available by arrangement.

What if my child has allergies or a medical condition?

Please let us know about any allergies, medical conditions or additional needs before your visit. As Sweetlands is a working farm, visitors may come into contact with animals, hay, straw, dust, mud and animal fur.

Can I book a pony ride?

Yes. Optional pony rides may be available as an add-on to Animal Experiences. These can be booked in advance where possible, or may be available on the day subject to pony and staff availability.

What happens if we are late?

Please arrive during the stated arrival window. Experiences start promptly and late arrivals may miss part of the experience. Unfortunately, we are unable to extend sessions for late arrivals.
