Riding Lessons

Sweetlands Farm is a 5★ licensed, ABRS+ approved riding school, offering experienced, patient, fully qualified and insured coaching.

We offer structured after-school and Saturday group riding lessons for children and young people of all abilities, from complete beginners through to more experienced riders.

Our riders have the opportunity to work through the ABRS levels gaining progress awards, certificates and rosettes in riding and horse care.

Tiny tots pony time and lead rein sessions are offered during the weekdays.

See our Horse Riding lesson page for more information

Equine and Animal Assisted Services

A more personal approach to learning through horses and animals.

Suitable for children and young people who may benefit from a quieter, more individual or small-group environment including those accessing alternative provision or supportive educational settings.

Sessions are primarily non-ridden and may include horse care, groundwork, animal handling, welfare-based learning and confidence-building activities.

Where suitable and beneficial to the individual, ridden activities or short riding experiences may also be included.

Horse-related learning can be supported through the ABRS+ Advanced Rosette Syllabus, helping learners build understanding, responsibility, communication and confidence through practical, hands-on experiences with horses.

Sessions can be tailored to include all of our animals.

See our Equine & Animal Assisted Services page for more information.

Animal Learning Experiences

Small, guided sessions designed to help children and young people connect with animals through calm, hands-on learning experiences.

Sessions involve time with ponies and a range of friendly farm animals, including Royal Golden Guernsey goats, Oxford Sandy and Black pigs and Zwartbles sheep.

Learning focuses on animal care, behaviour, welfare and understanding rare and traditional breeds through practical, hands-on experiences.

Activities are designed to help build confidence, responsibility, communication and independence over time within a supportive outdoor environment.

See our Animal Learning Experiences page for more information.

The Sweetlands Way

Surrounded by open countryside and thriving wildlife, it offers a quiet escape from the busyness of everyday life. Buzzards circle overhead, swallows return each year to the stable rafters, hedgerows are alive with birdsong.

We are passionate about caring for our environment and creating a space where both people and animals can thrive. Since starting Sweetlands, we have installed solar, large water collectors, added a pond, planted numerous trees and hedging across the farm, with many more planned for the future as we continue to grow and nurture the land.

With space to breathe, fresh air, and the gentle presence of animals, Sweetlands Farm is a place to relax, build confidence, and simply enjoy being outdoors.

Sweetlands Farm holds a 5★ Higher Standards Riding School Licence, reflecting our commitment to high standards of horse care, safety and tuition.

We are always happy to help you find the right session for your child — please get in touch to discuss availability or booking.
